Women’s Technical Climbing Clinic 201

Sedona is notorious for having some of the most challenging technical climbs in the United States.  Our team has spend years refining our curriculum for improving ascending techniques.  And for the first time ever, we are offering a Women’s Technical Climbing Clinic 201 to continue to progress your skills beyond the fundamentals!

This clinic is designed to give riders a more advanced understanding of a technical climbing toolkit.  We’ll be initially reviewing the skill framework used on every uphill, before transitioning to more complex concepts such as: tight switchbacks, maintaining traction on loose/steep sections, nose pivots, ascending over larger obstacles, how nutrition and strength training impact endurance, and more!

Sedona is the ideal location to refine your climbing skills, alongside the instruction of a highly certified coach!  Join BICP Level 3 Coach, Amo (one of the top instructors in the Southwest) and gain a better understanding on how to ascend with more precision and skill.

Morning Skills Session + Nutrition & Fitness Class:
This day-long clinic will start at the Sedona Bike Park where we will thoroughly review correct body position and maneuvers needed for technical climbs.

Steph McMillan, from Team FNG, will also be sharing her extensive knowledge on nutrition and strength training, and how it impacts your success on the bike. We are lucky to have her expertise a part of this event, as she holds NASM CPT and Precision Nutrition certifications, as well as being a nurse (12 years) and coach (5 years).

Delicious Lunch Options:
A catered boxed lunch alongside the SMBA staff is an opportunity to connect on the clinic’s content or chat general MTB tips & tricks.

Afternoon Trail Session:
Our afternoon session will exclusively be on Sedona’s trails, seeking out iconic climbs and alternative lines known by the local SMBA staff.  Riders will be presented opportunities to refine their form on blue and black climbs.

The group size will be small, ensuring plenty of individualized feedback for each participant.  This clinic is tailored for riders who identify as light intermediate to advanced riders.  They ideally have had instruction on technical climbing in the past.  Please reach out if you are curious whether this event is a good fit for your progression.
